wildflower wednesday – labrador tea


Labrador tea – Rhododendron groenlandicum (also Ledum groenlandicum)

This fragrant shrub grows in bogs, especially in black spruce bogs. The leaves are used by First Nations to make a great tasting restorative tea. Only one cup per day.

Other flowers blooming this week are: hawkweed, indian paintbrush, buttercup, bedstraw, bear’s paw, twinflower, bunchberry, yarrow, oxeye daisy, rosy pussytoes, queen’s cup
